Role Value Proposition: 

To contribute to the proactive management of claims administered by MetLife, providing reassurance to customers through service excellence and accuracy of work, whilst developing and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external customers.

    

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for the timely and accurate assessment, decision making, settlement and communication of complex Employee Benefits and Individual Protection Claims from beginning to end. These claims will be from our income protection, critical illness and life insurance products.
  • Acts independently within agreed authority and service levels. Decision making authority is an essential requirement, expected to hold or be working towards multiple product authority.
  • Provide exceptional levels of customers service to policyholders, clients and intermediaries in a professional and friendly manner and build trusted partnerships with key customers; either direct or at distributor level.
  • Liaising with the Chief Medical Officer, underwriters and external service providers to ensure all appropriate information is obtained to assist in the assessment and ongoing management of claims.
  • Maintaining a good working relationship with Reinsurers in order to maximize recovery from reinsurance contracts.

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

 

  • You must have considerable experience and exposure in handling Employee Benefits claims. A minimum 4-5 years’ experience on Group Income Protection or other complex claims is essential for this role, additional experience can be on Individual Income protection, critical illness, accident & health claims is advantageous.
  • Experience can be solely from a Direct Insurer or from a combination of Direct Insurer and Reinsurer.
  • Confidence in communicating claim decisions via the telephone and in writing.
  • You will have experience in managing Income Protection claims where return to work support is provided, and be able to identify what resources are needed to get the best outcome.
  • You should have a willingness to study towards professional qualifications which MetLife will sponsor.
  • You need to have experience quality checking and decision approval on the work of others.
  • Claim decision making authority is an essential requirement, either from previous experience or awarded by MetLife.

 

Required:

  • Group Income Protection Claims experience
  • Excellent claims writing skills
  • Confident face to face communications with broker or client

 

Preferred:

  • 3 years working experience on Group Income Protection claims
  • Knowledge on other Employee Benefit products
  • Knowledge of Medical or Scheme Underwriting would be beneficial.
