Risk & Compliance Analyst - Fixed Term Contract – Six Months


Job Location: Brighton , Home or Agile with travel to the other location essential


Role Value Proposition: 

To undertake compliance and risk related tasks and provide assistance to other members of the UK Risk/Compliance Department to enable it to achieve its vision.    


Key Responsibilities: 

  • Take the minutes from management meetings such as the UK RACC and the Regulation and Legislation Forum. 
  • Support the co-ordination and production of reports for Senior Management including the production of the pack for the UK Risk, Audit and Compliance Committee (RACC) and the escalation of items to the Executive Risk Committee (ERC).
  • Support the co-ordination, organisation and publication of papers ahead of meetings including the Regulation and Legislation Form
  • Consolidate the UK ERSA on a quarterly basis
  • Support Compliance monitoring and testing work and become increasingly involved in this the longer the individual spends in the role
  • Provide support to the review and approval of promotional literature and communications
  • Provide support to the oversight of complaint handling
  • Support the assessment and approval of new contract Consultancy Service Agreements
  • Support the maintenance of registers, such as the Compliance Action Log, Breach Register, Regulatory Communications Register, ensuring appropriate actions have been taken where required
  • Provide support to monitor regulatory change/news relevant to MetLife in the UK and support the identification of areas where action is required 
  • Support compliance involvement in project work and ultimately to become involved in supporting projects from a compliance perspective, proactively seeking guidance from other members of the team as appropriate


Key Performance Indicators:

The impact of the role will be to assist in monitoring MetLife UK’s compliance with regulations and providing advice and guidance to the business on all regulatory matters thus enabling it to avoid negative impacts, such as:

  1. Brand damage and impact on MetLife’s business aim to be a trusted financial services provider
  2. Regulatory breaches – including potentially significant fines that would hit “bottom line”
  3. Potential for significant disruption to business in the event of Regulatory investigation due to compliance failures.

In addition, supporting the fulfilment of the MetLife Europe’s risk responsibilities in the UK


Knowledge and Experience:

  • Preferred: a relevant degree qualification, preferably in financial services/UK regulations/law
  • A basic understanding of UK Financial Services regulation 
  • No relevant experience is necessary, but would be preferential
  • Willing to study to attain additional relevant qualifications.

  • Quick learner with the ability to pick up areas quickly
  • Enthusiasm and a positive and constructive manner.
  • Organised with the ability to manage own workload, prioritise and work on multiple projects/areas at the same time.
  • Good inter-personal skills, the ability to work on own and with others as part of a team.
  • Good written communication skills, excellent grammar and spelling.  Ability to draft reports and provide clear and comprehensive responses to Business and Customer queries.
  • Attention to detail  
  • Ability to analyse issues, assess the regulatory impact and communicate with the business so that they understand the issues, the importance and what action may be required.
  • Ability and willingness to challenge the business, where appropriate to ensure that undertake appropriate action to achieve the business’s objectives with regard to compliance and risk.
