In this role you will investigate disability claims and provide effective leadership and clinical input to support the management of complex claims  so as to ensure the professional delivery of a high quality and cost effective service

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides professional medical, technical, consulting advice, and recommendations in support of claims evaluation, investigation and assessment for various claims-related departments.
  • Applies specialized training and knowledge to the assessment of cases. 
  • Acts as a resource on clinical and technical issues.
  • Conducts complex research, review and analysis of medical records, treatment plans and claim information.
  • Provides recommendations regarding claimants’ current potential functional abilities and develops goal-focused return-to-work plan.
  • Assess training needs and creates, authors and presents medical training to claim and business partner associates.
  • Possess strong knowledge of medical conditions, symptoms and terminology.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills required.  Ability to build strong relationships required
  • Engages claimants, healthcare providers, employers and customers to ensure strict adherence in determining functional abilities.
  • Engages claimants, health care providers and employers in return to work potential and planning.
  • Coaches claim assessors on identifying and acting upon return to work potential.
  • Creates effective requests for medical information which focus on clarifying medical restrictions and limitations and their impact on work functionality.
  • Maintain an up to date knowledge of all policies and procedures, national care standards, best practice in complex claim cases
  • Provide a professional service to the company as required and working towards agreed service levels

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
Required

  • Mins of 2 years of Clinical Experience required
  • Registered Nurse (RGN or RMN) with a valid NMC registration

 

Preferred

  • Have Mental Health and or Occupational Health experience
  • Have Musculoskeletal experience 
  • Understanding of CQC standards
  • Disability claims experience preferably on Group Income Protection
