Role Value Proposition: 

The Small Business Solutions Adoption Consultant  is responsible for driving adoption of MetLife’s Small Business Solutions operating model.

 

Small & Specialty Business is a growth engine for MetLife and MetLife’s Group Benefits business.  Its $1B of revenue is a 5% share of a $19B market.  As we look to accelerate growth in this market to be a top 3 small business player, the business is expected to grow twice as fast as the market at 10% annually.  The effective rollout and internal and external adoption of Small Business Solutions (SBS), which is a first in industry quote to claims digital solution, is foundational to our transform and grow priorities.     

 

A newly formed Adoption taskforce will be responsible for driving internal and external self-service utilization of our new platform.  This position leads the adoption taskforce and is accountable for driving communication of the SBS value proposition, implementing tactics to increase internal and external adoption and for capturing feedback from internal and external users to improve the effectiveness of the system and associated operating model over time. Online self-serve adoption rates will vary across quoting, implementation and service capabilities with ranges of 40-50% adoption in 2019 that are expected to grow to 60-70% by 2023.  Increases in self-serve adoption will directly contribute to our ability to improve pricing competitiveness, increase earnings and/or re-invest into enhanced capabilities for the business.    

 

This high impact position will engage with members across the organization including, but not limited to Small and Regional Business leadership, distribution, IT, Program Solutions & Delivery, product and pricing, distribution development, broker strategy, finance, underwriting, operations, marketing, legal and be equipped to interact in a credible manner as we drive enhancement to the model.  The role will also interface directly with external Brokers and third-party distribution partners.   

 

    

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute upon frameworks to gather feedback from internal and external users on effectiveness of platform and supporting processes. Analyze key users of the system to understand their unique needs and establish practices to address needs
  • Develop system expertise and broader business insights, playing a key role as liaison between day-to-day users and Small & Specialty Business Leadership
  • Identify and prioritize enhancements in coordination with leadership and influence partners to ensure enhancements are executed upon and deliver on business needs
  • Develop content and deliver internal training sessions to drive internal resource expertise of our new model as well as coordinate and facilitate external broker webinars, roadshows and training sessions to drive utilization of tools and practices  

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

 

Required:

  • 8+ years in group insurance industry
  • Advanced working knowledge of group insurance market, distribution models and processes for both core ancillary and voluntary products
  • Experience creating business cases and in assessing market and business opportunities that have created results
  • Exceptional communicator, both verbal and written, to internal and external audiences and expertise in the development and delivery of training content
  • Experience and propensity to use data to drive decisions and competitive insights
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree a plus

  • Strong understanding of business drivers and financial performance measures
  • High degree of business and financial acumen as well as sound decision making
  • Successful track record of supporting large scale change that created intended results
  • Knowledge / experience with supported products, market, industry, and business channels
  • Drives toward clarity and solutions with demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and driving alignment in partnering organizations
  • Holistic systems thinking with the ability to perform detailed work as well as high level work
