Role Value Proposition: 

This position is a key financial member of the team responsible for analyzing experience, setting experience-based pricing assumptions, and working with levels of management, ERM, and auditors to attain approval. These changes in assumptions:

  • Drive ratemaking in LTC rate filings to state insurance departments
  • Are the basis for financial statements and reporting for the line
  • Lead to the development of AAT, loss recognition testing, and other financial uses.


The key functions directly change the bottom line of the company and are the basis for all financial reporting. The position is most useful in understanding the whole of the continuum of the actuarial process from experience to pricing to financial reporting.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assemble and analyze historical LTC experience.
  • Understand the administrative and valuation data structure. Use the Triton system to assemble the data and the assumptions to run Triton projections. Using the Triton output, develop the target premiums, claims and reserves for the rate action filings, as well as for the LTC business plans and projections.
  • Develop and submit actuarial memoranda for the LTC rate action filings.
  • Work with LTC product management, Contracts and regulators to achieve approval and implementation of all LTC rate action filings.
  • Produce any required annual reporting and regulatory filings related to LTC rate increases.
  • This role will work with partners at different levels throughout the organization to create accurate financial statements and working models for other GAAP and Statutory uses. Additionally, the LTC knowledge base acquired here is useful to business and corporate partners across the company.


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:


  • Actuarial student or ASA
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or related discipline
  • Demonstrates strong systems and technical expertise
  • Knowledge of Excel is required, knowledge of Access is desired



  • Excellent analytical, mathematical, and organizational abilities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrates strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Experience with state regulatory filings for health insurance products is a plus
