Role Value Proposition: 

The Senior Accountant is responsible for GAAP and Statutory financial reporting and analysis for the MetGen insurance entity (including the Underwritten Pet and MetLife Legal Plans products) in the Group Benefits segment within the Controllers organization. 



  • Responsible for the preparation and review of the MetGen entity (including Underwritten Pet and MetLife Legal Plans product) financial results, including income statements, balance sheets and earnings by source in a timely and accurate manner to support Controllers and Corporate Financial Reporting requirements.
  • Preparation of Month End Journal Entries
  • Analysis of financial results including comparisons with prior periods, plan and projections
  • Provide data and analysis to Controllers and CFO management to support earnings sign off
  • Support the completion of the Quarterly Financial Supplement (QFS) as well as the Management Discussion and Analysis
  • Prepare Balance Sheet Reconciliations
  • Support STATUTORY and Corporate requirements for quarterly and annual filings, as applicable.
  • Review STATUTORY results, prepare analytics, review STAT actual versus projection, review earnings walks
  • Support the D&T legal entity audit for MetGen
  • Support Internal Controls requirements
  • Liaise with other units including Valuations, CFO, Expenses, Technical Accounting, Internal and External Auditing, Corporate



  • Property and Casualty Insurance Experience [a plus] -MetGen is a yellow book filing
  • Accounting Degree / Experience [preferably 3-5 years]
  • CPA or MBA
  • System experience with PeopleSoft General Ledger, CUBUS / EV (Essbase) reporting tool and TCP Booke Annual Statement Software
  • Ability to work independently and with others
  • Ability to understand and apply internal controls within the function
  • Ability to multitask
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Advanced MS Excel
