Role Value Proposition: 


MetLife’s Operational Risk Management (“ORM”) function within Global Risk Management is responsible for the design and implementation of company-wide policies, frameworks and tools enabling appropriate management of non-financial risks throughout the organization.  ORM partners closely with various stakeholders across the enterprise to implement strong processes and effective controls, as well as to foster and embed a strong risk culture. 


This position will report to MetLife’s centralized ORM function which is responsible for global Non-Financial Risk Framework & Governance. The individual will provide critical support working with GRM stakeholders in the enhancement and ongoing execution of enhanced Non-Financial Risk Management capabilities.


The individual will report to the director leading the ORM technology strategy and will gain valuable experience working with stakeholders across Global Risk Management.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Maintain non-financial risk quality assurance, including validation of processes, risks, controls, assessments, issues, actions, etc. and support data analysis.
  • Support the global migration of offline risk assessments to MetLife’s GRC platform (OpenPages) and help commercialize the system to enable online risk assessments and issue creation.
  • Build and maintain a regular exception reporting process - develop reports, communicate results and follow up with regional stakeholders on discrepancies and help identify gaps in data management.
  • Support Data Governance strategy by aligning with other control partners, support identification of critical data elements and building and executing of change management process.
  • Become an OpenPages expert:
  • Help to deliver training to users on risk events loading and reporting, review tagging of events to non-financial risks, recommend process improvements.
  • Support data validation.
  • Support system changes/upgrades by successfully applying change management to different sources and corresponding processes.


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:



  • Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Finance or related discipline.
  • 3+ years of financial services experience required.
  • Proactive, intellectually curious, willing to challenge others and operate with a sense of urgency
  • Knowledge of risk management best practices
  • Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage shifting priorities to deliver results
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare and conduct presentations and communicate with diverse stakeholder groups
  • Must be a dedicated, self-motivated individual with an ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required to develop partnerships and relationships in a cross-functional environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint



  • Experience with other applications like Alteryx, Power BI, Power Apps and Access would be an asset  
  • Experience working in Risk/Compliance/Audit preferred
  • Experience with data governance and data analytics would be an asset
