Role Value Proposition
The Specialized Benefit Resources (BOLI/COLI) unit within the Retirement & Income Solutions (RIS) business is seeking a Director, a key and highly visible leadership role. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President, SBR Actuarial, this role leads a team responsible for underwriting new sales and managing the inforce block of business. This position is also responsible for tax compliance testing of SBR contracts.
This position interacts closely with all areas within SBR, including Sales, Client Services, Technology, Operations and Funds, as well as with business partners such as Finance, Actuarial, Risk, Investments, Legal and Tax.
Key Responsibilities
- Leads a team responsible for underwriting new sales and financial underwriting of prospective new clients.
- Responsible for tax compliance testing of contracts at issue and on an ongoing basis, including definition of life insurance requirements (death benefits above IRS minimums), premium limits for non-MEC contracts (annual premium cases) and testing of impact on Inforce cases due to face amount increases/decreases and withdrawals.
- Inforce management responsibilities including experience rating calculations for participating cases, determination/submission of dividend scale for board approval, crediting rate re-set’s for GA cases and SV wrapped contracts, Stable Value contract monitoring (e.g., corridor adjustments and concentration limits), and liquidity modeling projections/recommendations for contracts invested illiquid funds.
- General support to client services on inforce cases including ensuring compliance with contractual provisions and providing guidance to servicing and explanations to brokers/clients.
- Collaboration with Finance on financial plans and projections, including assumption-setting and analysis of actual vs expected results.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen/improve processes and build efficiencies.
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills (5 -7 bullets)
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics or actuarial science or related discipline.
- 10+ years actuarial or financial experience.
- Proven experience managing, training, mentoring, and developing associates
- Strong quantitative and communication skills.
- Able to concisely present orally and in presentations.
- Self-starter with ability to effectively manage and supervise multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
Preferred:
- ASA or FSA with Society of Actuaries.
- Life Insurance product experience.
