Role Value Proposition: 

 

The position is the Director of the Group Life reserve valuation team.   He or she would be the Group Life Valuation Actuary. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Responsible for the Group Life reserve valuation and financial reporting, which includes Group Term Life, GUL, COLI / BOLI, and post retirement benefits.
  • Explain reserve variances and earning analysis to the line of business.
  • Supporting implementation of Long Duration Target Improvements (LDTI).
  • Ensure the appropriateness of new business and inforce reserve assumptions.
  • Support the liability projection work.
  • Actively partner with CFO and other business partners.
  • Create, maintain and re-certify all process documentation.
  • Manage 3 direct reports.

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

 

Required:

 

  • 4+ years of experience in an actuarial position.
  • FSA, or near FSA
  • Excellent organizational, mathematical, and analytical abilities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven project management skills
  • Excels at building partnerships and fostering teamwork
  • Manages performance effectively
  • Reserve valuation or financial reporting experience a plus
  • Group insurance product knowledge a plus

 

Preferred:

 

  • Experience with PolySystems or valuation software a plus
  • Valuation work experience a plus
  • Projection modeling experience a plus
  • Group Life or Health product knowledge a plus
