Role Value Proposition: 

This position is within the Group Benefits CFO organization in the Voluntary Products CFO group.  The Group Benefits CFO organization is responsible for financial oversight of the Group Benefits business plan, working as trusted advisors to our business partners to develop and execute key business strategies to create shareholder value. 

 

This role will work closely with actuarial partners across our Group Benefit products to oversee the implementation and development of embedded value assumptions.  Responsibilities include ensuring consistency for the development of appropriate assumptions across products, developing associated analytics, maintaining proper documentation, and communicating all EV related information among Group Benefits business units and partners.  In addition, this role reports directly to the Pricing Actuary for MetLife’s Pet Insurance product and will have additional responsibilities assisting with pricing, analysis, and rate filings for Pet and other Group Benefits products. 

 

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Review detailed, auditable documentation of all assumptions, calculations to ensure consistency.
  • Analyze and explain results to various levels of management, including non-actuarial business partners.
  • Effectively coordinate and communicate status within Group Benefits finance teams.
  • Maintain rate filing processes for Group Benefits products (i.e., Pet Insurance) to update all pricing factors and documentation on a regular basis.
  • Perform regular data analysis of insurance claim data to understand key pricing factors in rate setting.
  • Work closely with Financial Projection partners in developing plan assumptions (sales, persistency, renewal rate, claim trend, etc.) and revising them monthly based on emerging experience and feedback from market segment CFOs.

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

Required:

  • Attainment of FSA or ASA designation, with at least 5 years of actuarial experience.
  • Group insurance product and pricing expertise.
  • Strong analytical skills, with ability to explain results clearly and concisely
  • Familiarity with GAAP, Stat, Tax and embedded value accounting systems and ability to read and understand financial statements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work through an integrated team across organizations to produce results within tight timeframes. 
  • Advanced Excel proficiency; intermediate-advanced Access proficiency

     

Preferred:

  • Undergraduate degree required, MBA or other advanced degree.
  • FSA certification.
  • Alteryx & Power BI familiarity would be a plus
