The Role:

Regional Market is a growth engine for MetLife and a key growth driver for its Group Benefits business.  This position is accountable for creating, monitoring and evolving business strategies to drive profitable growth across 2-5000 lives in support of our growth plans.  The role will identify and execute upon solutions that highlight our strengths and enable us to better compete in market by delivering targeted and differentiated solutions that are developed to meet the needs of our customers.  Strategies will enable us to deliver against our strategic priorities in Regional, highlighted by priorities focused on delivering local competitive advantage, activating our value proposition and strengthening our distribution advantage. In addition to implementing new strategies from our strategic roadmap, this position will be responsible for understanding/analyzing how our solutions are working in market, recommending strategies where we have gaps and leveraging an understanding of the market/competition to drive strategic growth.

 

This high impact position will engage with members of the entire organization including, but not limited to Regional Market leadership, distribution, product and pricing, finance, underwriting, operations, and marketing and be equipped to interact in a credible manner as we drive daily change and growth.  The position will also interface with large programs that together are transforming how Regional Market delivers solutions to its customers. This position influences the shape of the strategic dialog amongst Regional Market and acts as a catalyst of change as we move to approach the business is a more agile and nimble locally driven way.  Position has 4 direct reports.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead cross-functional teams in the in-depth strategic assessment and development of high potential opportunities working with close partnership across a multitude of business functions within and outside of regional market organization
  2. Strong financial acumen and understanding of the broker business, how regional market works operationalization and our customer base to identify the right solutions, focus on the right priorities and ensure all working towards the right success metrics.
  3. Develop viable business cases, including modeling of results to launch new solutions in RM – including identifying where we should fail fast and where we should move faster.
  4. Develop and maintain business strategies and drive execution across the organization, including sign off, to achieve the agreed upon financial goals
  5. Deliver in-market solutions to impact key drivers including quotes, closing ratio, persistency, products per sale/customer and penetration of voluntary and high accelerating value products
  6. Management responsibilities:  Full people management responsibilities, including hiring, firing, promotions, performance and compensation management, and training and development.

  • Key Stakeholders: Sales, Regional Market Stakeholders

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

  • 10 + years of experience in Insurance working with multiple functions
  • Understanding of the Group Benefits space and Brokerage Business.
  • Strong financial acumen
  • Ability to develop strategic & trusted partnerships with internal & external partners
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to motivate teams
  • Strong Project Management skills
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Strong collaboration skills, ability to partner across the enterprise.

  • Expertise in Excel & PPT
  • Undergraduate degree required, MBA or other advanced degree preferred
