Role Value Proposition: MetLife is leading growth in the market with a dedicated focus on Specialty Market relationships. Our Specialty Market relationships generally range in size from 500-10,000+ eligibles.  We are looking for you to drive a consistent and extraordinary customer service experience for both new and existing customers as part of the Specialty Market Service & Operations Organization in Global Technology and Operations (GTO).    In this role, you will partner closely with sales, underwriting and external relationships to execute on customer commitments.   Specialty Market Service & Operations is a diverse team of implementation, client service and billing associates supporting the General Agent, Third Party Entity, Professional Employer Organization (PEO), Association and Trust market space.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for account management and oversight  of deliverables including product for Specialty Market customers. Leads discussion on complex policy/certificate issues with customer. Oversight of delivery and final customer signoff.

  • Manages customer relationships; Handles escalated customer issues for assigned customer base; Attends client meetings where appropriate;

  • Manages timely delivery of reporting by team; Partners with Financial Team to ensure exceptional service is delivered to customer.

  • Leads and/or provides strategic guidance of/for Customer Implementation. Negotiates discrepancies between client requirements and MetLife policy/certificate or contract language.

  • Process: Develops/reviews implementation project plans, is accountable for management of project expectations/results; Balances client needs with MetLife capabilities, allocates resources as appropriate;  Manages Contract development, review and sign-off.


    Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills

    Required Experience:

  • 3 plus years’ experience in customer/broker service

  • Proactively manage metrics and seek out opportunities for improvement.

  • Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint


  • Bachelors degree

  • Experience in the PEO, Trust or Union space

  • Ability to learn new systems and maneuver within multiple complex systems at the same time

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage across a matrix team

  • Strong product knowledge and financial acumen to help brokers and customers understand rates and changes and Partner with the Account Executives to sell and grow the business.

  • Able to independently deal with escalations and bring them to resolution.
