The Role:  The focus of this role is to maximize the distribution of Group Benefits through the partnership with Farmers for our P&C business.  This role has been defined by the EVP of Group Benefits as a critical role for US Group Benefits and will be the primary sales lead for our Farmers partnership, which is expected to bring more than $50M per year to our earnings bottom line.  This role will have overall accountability for P&C sales across all markets and our 300+ Account Executives.  The role is responsible for developing a deep understanding of our joint key value proposition and of Farmers’ strategy for the P&C business and help to shape this to align with our customer and broker needs. This role will also develop and execute a business plan that clearly differentiates MetLife/Farmers to enable P&C growth, as well as growth for some of our remaining MetLife products (example Pet Insurance). This role is responsible for talent development of direct team, partnership, and education of our entire MetLife group salesforce.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive sales results across all market segments and customers
  • Develop and secure deep understanding of Farmers strategy, value proposition, and business plan
  • Develop unique MetLife business plan to reflect partner strategy and drive execution cross functionality:
      • Dependencies with sales, underwriting, product, service, technology and legal
      • Tight coordination with Market Leadership
      • Tight coordination with VP Broker team and key external broker/consultants
      • Alignment & commitment between MetLife and Farmers, while aligning strategy to our customer and broker needs/strategy
      • Develop joint business plan that can be executed at national and local levels
  • Coordinate with Farmers, the sales leaders, and market enablement team to develop and deliver internal and external training focused on the Farmers value proposition and strategic long-term partnership
  • Generate growth results by developing a strategic business plan and initiatives to drive significant earnings growth for MetLife
  • Identify, prioritize, and help manage key relationships with Sales Leadership, brokers, and third-party entities to create measurable business results
  • Serve as an escalation path for both MetLife team and Farmers to ensure quick resolution and execution
  • Develop relationships and connections with various channels through focused marketplace activities, including customer and broker meetings 
  • Internally influence and educate cross functional partners to optimize the partnership success with Farmers.

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

  • College degree preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years working in the Group Insurance space
  • Knowledge of Group Property & Casualty Products and Services
  • Ability to influence sales and service associates
  • Experience developing training materials and leading sales training sessions
  • Proven experience working in a matrixed environment

The wage for this position is $110K.  The role is eligible for incentive compensation under the sales incentive plan for this position. MetLife offers a comprehensive benefits program that includes healthcare benefits, parental leave, legal plan services, and paid time off.
