The role of the Data Services lead is to act as the intermediary between the business requirements and the technology sourcing.  Working with both business & IT teams to source data into the appropriate architecture.  The scope includes working with the appropriate regional teams across the globe, from EMEA, ASIA, LATAM or the Americas.   This role interacts with various stakeholders from business groups (e.g. Corporate Finance, Global Lines of Business (LOBs), and Investments, Actuarial, etc.) and Technology partners (e.g. Corporate IT and Global Line of Business (LOB) IT). 

    

Key Responsibilities:  

 

LEAD CAPACITY

  • No formal supervisory responsibilities, but requires ability to lead and motivate project team members that are not direct reports, as well as providing work direction to lower-level staff members. 
  • Provide direction to other team members through mentoring, support, and guidance
  • Identify and implement process improvements & take on additional tasks as assigned

 

PROJECT PLANNING & INITIATION

  • Assist in the creation of project charters, plans and other required documents.
  • Maintain the project plan, assist with the execution of assigned project plan tasks, and track overall project health utilizing MS Project.
  • Develop specifications for accounting rules with business partners.
  • Schedule and execute orientation, business analysis, and other related meetings with business partners including the creation of presentations and meeting setup activities.
  • Assist in Project Communications and Status Reporting to related groups.

 

ANALYSIS/REQUIREMENTS

  • Analyze accounting transactions processed via financial administration systems.
  • Assist in gathering requirements and obtaining sign-off from business resources.
  • Comprehension of technology architectural components to support questions from Lines of Business and other areas.
  • Create process flow diagrams to reflect current and future business processes.

 

DESIGN

  • Provide business input during technical discussions.
  • Assist in the coordination of meetings between business and IT groups to review IT design solutions as they relate to the business requirements provided.

 

DEVELOPMENT (BUILD)/TESTING/DEPLOYMENT

  • Participate in status meeting of Rules Development and IT Development teams to assist Project Manager in tracking of development against the project plan timeline.
  • Analyze test files and issues found throughout testing to determine appropriate resolution, communicate to LOBs, IT and testing partners, and track defects to completion.
  • Participate in activities related to Deployment/rollout of administration systems into technology architecture.

Review, log, and schedule change requests.  Schedule QA, UAT, and E2E testing phases. Approve QA test scripts

 

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

  • 8 years of relevant work experience
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and familiarity with financial statements, including balance sheet and income statements.
  • MetLife corporate financial statement knowledge is preferred
  • Experience with project management lifecycle & business analysis
  • Good consensus builder, team player
  • Excellent oral and written communication & ability to effectively facilitate meetings
  • Strong organizational, analytical and multitasking skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and be proactive in identifying and resolving issues, as well as identifying daily tasks and priorities
  • Strong MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint skills are necessary
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Project, Visio, BI Publisher, PeopleSoft, SQL and MetLife admin systems a plus
  • Insurance experience a plus

 

Required:

  • 6-8+ years experience working knowledge of Data Services - Data Systems and Controls
