Key Responsibilities:

Responsible for handling all aspects of personal injury defense, no-fault and homeowners matters from inception through trial/resolution.  Handle depositions, court appearances, draft pleadings, motions, discovery and conduct trials. Handle multiple projects effectively and manage a large caseload.  Submit comprehensive verbal and written reports to respective claims partners.  Provide accurate assessments of liability and damages, make recommendations and prepare and execute litigation strategies.

 

Handle all aspects of litigation from inception through trial/resolution

  • Take and defend depositions
  • Court appearances/motions
  • Conduct trials, handle arbitrations and mediations
  • Legal research and drafting of motions/briefs
  • Handle large caseload
  • Written and verbal reporting
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or required

 

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

  • 8+ years’ experience in insurance defense including motor vehicle accident, premises liability and UM/UIM cases
  • JD degree from an accredited law school
  • CT bar admission
  • Record of taking Connecticut personal injury trials to verdict (liability and damages)
  • In depth knowledge of Connecticut tort law
  • Thorough understanding of medical conditions/ability to understand and analyze medical records
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a track record of building relationships and effective partnerships and being a team player
  • Self-directed, creative and strategic thinker who is collaborative, decisive and uses sound judgment with an eye on efficiencies
  • Exhibits high degree of professionalism with ability to adhere to deadlines
  • Proficient in motion practice and litigation advocacy
  • Superior oral and written communications skills

 

The successful candidate will also be detail-oriented, with good organizational skills and the capability to identify and analyze legal issues.
