This role will direct, plan, organize, and control all activities of the Clinical/Quality Assurance department to ensure its effective, efficient and profitable operation within the disability income insurance organization while managing all aspects of customer service, acts as change agent and an advocate for team building. 

    

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Directs, plans, organizes, and controls all activities of the Clinical/Quality Assurance department to ensure an effective, efficient and profitable operation.
  • Provides support to associates and balances workloads.
  • Coordinates training and provides mentoring for the Clinical/Quality Auditors and Clinical/Quality Analysts. 
  • Completes and presents goals and objectives to QA associates and maintains updated documents.
  • Manages and communicates improvement efforts to successfully lead team members to meet business objectives.
  • Provides feedback to Quality Assurance Program Manager on team and individual performance.
  • Leads and motivates the clinical/quality management team in a professional and positive manner. Monitor associates' performance and provides frequent feedback.
  • Reviews and addresses second level rebuttals to conclusion.
  • Assists the Quality Assurance Program Manager in successfully meeting deliverables.
  • Maintains excellent positive working relationships with Unit Managers, Specialty Services Managers, and Clinical/Operations Managers; represents quality management's operations and goals in a positive manner.
  • Participates in presentations to customers.
  • Assists in facilitating and participates in PDCA Lites.
  • Assists in compiling monthly, quarterly and annual data; assists in conducting analysis of data and determining root cause.
  • Participates in quarterly trends meeting with claim management.
  • Contributes to development of new and updated quality processes for continuous improvement.
  • Participates in clinical/claim team meetings when necessary.
  • Embraces and promotes change initiatives.
  • Maintains excellent relationships with customers and represents quality management's operations and goals in a positive manner.
  • Full people management responsibilities, including hiring, firing, promotions, performance and compensation management, and training and development. 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or required. 

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

Required:

  • High school diploma
  • RN Licensure
  • 7+ yrs. related experience.
  • 2+ yrs. of disability claims experience.

 

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 10+ yrs. related experience in operations.
  • 5+ yrs. of disability claims experience.
  • Strong customer satisfaction focus.
  • CRC certification
