Role Value Proposition: 

The House Counsel Office Manager assists and works closely with the Managing Attorney in providing quality House Counsel operation; responsible for the daily operations of law office; some limited supervision duties to ensure efficient and productive work flow by legal secretarial staff and others who provide assistance to attorneys.    


Key Responsibilities:  

  • Administrative Duties
    • Maintain office checking account by paying all office bills necessary from account and reconciling monthly bank statement;
    • Prepare monthly financial report;
    • Review outside vendor bills for accuracy and forward to PO/AP for payment;
    • Communicate with vendors, court calendar services, etc. to effectuate reasonable charges for services;
    • Order office supplies and Recognition supplies;
    • Maintain and update Crisis Management Plan; DLM inventory and RIM;
    • Plan Recognition and Holiday events; assist office personnel to plan seasonal events
  • Operational Duties
    • Maintain and update office equipment and office systems;
    • Address office furniture needs and any building issues;
    • Maintain office cleanliness
  • Supervisory Duties
    • Monitor office admin staff to ensure efficient and productive work flow for assistance to attorneys;
    • Conduct regular meetings of admin staff to update personnel on office procedure/issues;
    • Periodic meeting with attorneys to ensure admin support is effective;
    • Keep manager advised and updated on admin issues;
    • Provide input to manager regarding admin work performance;
    • Participate in PDP process – evaluate staff and conduct PDP discussions with support staff; coach problematic admin, if necessary.


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

  • Strong organizational skills;
  • Effective communication;
  • Sound Judgment in decision making;
  • Knowledge of basic legal procedures and clerical functions;
  • Technical expertise – knowledge of computer systems, office systems and equipment, Time and Labor and check processing;
  • Knowledge of Time Matters practice management system is a plus;
  • Leadership and motivational skills;
  • Ability to promote team values;
  • Professional demeanor and attitude
