About the Role

As a Sales Trainee, you will complete a 9-month sales training program which includes a combination of structured classroom and on-the-job learning with a focus on building an understanding of the employee benefits industry, MetLife’s group benefits and professional selling skills. Successful completion of the program will prepare you to apply for an account executive position within our Group Benefits Sales organization.

 

PRIMARY ROLE LOCATION: New York (NY)

ALTERNATE LOCATIONS: Atlanta (GA), Cincinnati (OH), Chicago (IL), Houston (TX) Irvine (CA), and Pittsburgh (PA)

 

This is Your Opportunity to:

  • Participate in and complete the Sales Academy Program which includes trainings led by subject matter experts across Group Benefits
  • Support the sales office by meeting with brokers or customers, making cold calls, conducting enrollment meetings or benefit fairs, providing post-sale service and interaction with clients, and assisting the account executives with their territories
  • Build sales competencies – including communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship building skills
  • Develop an understanding of the Group Benefits products and services – including Disability, Dental, Life, Auto & Home, Hyatt Legal, and Critical Illness
  • Work effectively with a seasoned sales professional who serves as a mentor in educating the trainee to the various product and services offered by MetLife.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Knowledge of the MetLife organization, as well as industry information, including an understanding of brokers, customers, and competitive landscape
  • Interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills, presentation skills, sound business judgment, computer skills, ability to lead and influence, analytical, relationship building and organizational skills
  • The ability to obtain Life, Accident and Health, and Property & Casualty licenses.
  • Willingness to relocate prior to, and upon completion of, the program
  • 0-5 years of related work experience
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience
  • Ability to travel and drive to meetings with internal and/or external partners

The wage range for this position specific to Colorado is $49,800 to $66,400. The role is eligible for incentive compensation under the MetLife Annual Variable Incentive Plan ("AVIP"). Your eligibility for and award of incentives are governed by the terms of the plan. MetLife offers a comprehensive benefits program that includes Medical, Dental, Life, Vision plus Retirement benefits and Paid Time Off.
