Job Summary: Complete sales training program which includes a combination of structured classroom and on-the-job learning with a focus on building an understanding of the industry landscape, MetLife products and services, organizational infrastructure and sales skills.

Functional Responsibilities: Complete and participate in all required MetLife learning and training. Works effectively with a seasoned sales professional who serves as a Mentor in educating the trainee to the various product and services offered by MetLife. This will involve meetings with the mentor and his/her customers, brokers, and consultants. Responsible for developing an understanding of products and services. Responsible for learning the basic financial drivers of the Sales Business and Product lines. Responsible for learning sales competencies – including communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship building skills. Supports the sales office by meeting with brokers or customers, making cold calls, conducting enrollment meetings or benefit fairs, providing post-sale service and interaction with clients, and assisting seasoned sales professionals with their territories. Generates reports to track/report activities, progress, and strategies. Performs other related duties as assigned or required

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Typical Experience: Knowledgeable on primary product offerings, contract, tools and technology. Knowledge of the MetLife organization, history, core values, client and competitive landscape. Knowledge of MetLife’s service platform, processes and operations. Understanding and application of core selling skills to respond to leads and deliver client-centric solutions. 0-2 years of related work experience. May be an entry level position. Communicates/presents effectively, customer focus, relationship building and interpersonal skills
