Role Value Proposition:
The Senior Network Security Engineer is responsible for enterprise-wide efforts to implement, and manage security solutions, primarily focused on data centers. The role-holder must have the ability to review and recommend security safeguards and configurations in a highly complex Network infrastructure with demonstrated ability to recognize and appropriately incorporate layered security safeguards within the data center network perimeter, internal network, application, and data layers. The incumbent will represent the operations organization in a wide array of IT application and infrastructure projects requiring broad knowledge of security. Projects will vary from individual system deployments to large scale network consolidation initiatives spanning multiyear timelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide multi-disciplinary knowledge, skills and experience in technical security architecture and management. Serve as the subject matter expert on a number of security technologies and security centric standardizations.
- Provide hands-on knowledge for a wide range of security technologies including, but not limited to: General Web Filtering Technologies, Palo Alto URL Filtering, Cisco NAC and ISE Posturing, and Active Directory (and related authentication / authorization controls).
- Candidate must also demonstrate proficiency in understanding and execution of Data Center class firewalls and VPN technologies. Product and solutions coverage required are Palo Alto, and Cisco. Fundamental working knowledge of routing and switching is a plus
- Consult on current and upcoming IT technologies and techniques that cover all levels of Network and IT security architecture, including those that affect business processes, data, applications, and network infrastructure.
- Assist in defining security strategies for infrastructure system design, optimization, and research, analysis and solution delivery. Recommend solutions taking into consideration a security perspective when evaluating options.
- Develop and deploy new solutions related to an array of Network Security technologies. Some may include but not limited to, Zero-Trust architectures, cloud and container security, DNS Security, and others.
- Assist and develop processes and procedures to enable rapid solution and resolution delivery to the business.
- Train and develop associate and junior engineers.
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
Required:
- 6+ years of IT & Network Security Operations experience working in an infrastructure or security architecture environment with expert level skills with Palo Alto
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with Layer 4 thru Layer 7 technologies and expert level understanding of mainstream protocols such as TCP, HTTP, SSL, FTP and DNS
- 3+ years of experience in Firewall, VPN, and/or URL filtering, planning, implementation, and continued management
- 6+ Years’ experience in networking related to switching, routing protocols, TCP\IP
- Experience with Cloud networking and security concepts
- Experience with scripting, automation and orchestration products.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, information Systems or related field
- Professional certification: such as CISSP, PCNSE, or other relevant industry certification is a major advantage
- Must have strong analytical skills, excellent understanding of application and network architecture, and must be able to assess security designs independently
- Understanding of virtualization technologies as it pertains to security and Data Centers is also desirable.
