Role Value Proposition

Duties: Research on trend of Containers and Cloud technologies to provide subject matter expertise for WebSphere Application Server (WAS), Liberty and eXtreme Scale improvement of MetLifes shared platform infrastructure. Collaborate with different groups to develop an enterprise platform onboarding process and support docker strategy implementation for WAS, Liberty and other open source Cloud and Container strategies. Install and configure IBM WebSphere eXtreme Scale to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of a WebSphere runtime environment, including design and implementation of infrastructure from specifications, configuration and deployment of applications, connection to back-end resources, and advanced troubleshooting of moderately complex software applications. Deploy, administer and provide operational support to production, staging, test, and development environments using WAS. Modify, install, and prepare technical documentation for system software applications. Monitor application server performance and systems capacity and modify procedures to solve complex problems. Plan and execute disaster recovery procedures and provide Tier 2 technical support.

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills

Requirements: Bachelor's degree in computer science or information technology (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus five (5) years of experience in information technology, including at least two (2) years in applications technologies, installation management, and configuration of Integration Applications WAS, eXtreme Scale, and Liberty. Specific skills/other requirements (quantitative experience requirement not applicable to this section) -- must possess the following: analyzing and evaluating environments for Web-Based applications, SOA and WebSphere Application Servers; designing solutions and deploying complex configurations for WAS application that require SSL configurations, including certificates and WebService Proxys; designing and implementing eXtreme Scale implementations and supporting onboarding team projects with eXtreme Scale configurations; analyzing, installing and troubleshooting environments on multiple operating systems, including Linux, Windows, AIX and iSeries; providing on-call support to help customers elaborate on the reported issue; and developing scripts for automation using Shell, Perl, PowerShell, Python, and Java.
