Role Value Proposition: 

The Capacity Planning & Performance Optimization function is responsible for tracking and forecasting capacity. This includes predicting usage of existing infrastructure, optimizing performance, and planning capacity for the introduction of new services over time.  The Analysts on this team play a critical role in ensuring infrastructure and application stability, as well as optimizing the environment for peak efficiency and cost containment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide highly technical consulting and leadership in identifying, recommending, and planning storage performance and capacity configurations designed to meet strategic business objectives
  • Lead historical capacity trend analyses for large-scale migration efforts, identifying opportunities to increase efficiency, eliminate waste, and reduce risk
  • Partner with domain engineers and to build an appropriate end-to-end capacity plan to meet agreed upon performance levels
  • Develop techniques for establishing a performance baselines, capacity limits, business metric models, and risk analyses
  • Provide best practice recommendations for Storage Capacity and Performance Management processes, thresholds, and tools
  • Occasionally lead team efforts relating to incident investigation, root cause analysis, service requests, and provide input into capacity forecast plans


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:


  • 7+ years proven experience in Enterprise Storage infrastructure support and management
  • Expert knowledge of Storage infrastructure; SAN, NAS, Brocade and Cisco switches, storage virtualization, replication, thin provisioning, storage pools, etc.
  • Knowledge of Compute infrastructure, including HP blades, UCS blades, and IBM Power equipment
  • Solid conceptual understanding and practical experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware and PowerVM platforms
  • Experience with Linux, Windows, and AIX operating systems
  • Aptitude in Excel and data analysis / trending
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills, with exceptional customer service orientation



  • Experience with Dell/EMC storage platforms (VMAX, VNX, ECS), Brocade and Cisco switches, and associated management tools
  • Knowledge of cloud storage technology and concepts
  • Familiarity with converged infrastructure
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
