Our sales force works directly with customers or through brokers, exchanges, and other third parties to distribute our broad range of Group Life, Dental, Vision, Group Disability, Global Services, Total Absence Management, Group Property & Casualty, Accident, Hospital Indemnity, Critical Illness and Legal Plan products and services. Role Value Proposition: 

The Sr. Marketing Manager, Small and Specialty Business Group Benefits within the US region is responsible for driving growth and differentiation among small business distribution channels (brokers, general agencies, professional employer organizations, etc.) by developing and executing integrated, multi-channel sales & marketing engagement strategies for B2B and B2B2C. This role serves as a subject matter expert on small businesses and partners closely with his or her Business Unit (BU) leadership and cross-functional teams to create and deliver on marketing strategies that incorporate social media, email, creative & messaging development, digital advertising, events, thought leadership/content and sales support.


This Sr. Marketing Manager reports directly to the Marketing Director, US Group Benefits Small & Specialty Business, and collaborates directly with stakeholders from the Group Benefits Small & Specialty Business and marketing leadership teams as well as US Marketing centers of excellence for social, email, web and advertising partnership.



Key Responsibilities:  

  • Manage marketing support for the MetLife Small Business digital experience:  Spearhead the planning and execution of integrated marketing campaigns to drive adoption and engagement of our soon-to-be-launched digital platform with a focus on product awareness and sales. Includes managing the development and communication of our B2B value proposition to prospective and existing brokers, general agencies and small business owners. 
  • Develop and activate the content strategy for MetLife Small & Specialty Business:  Create and manage the multi-year roadmap of creative, content, thought leadership and sales assets to ensure they align to key business priorities and drive incremental sales growth. Channels include web, email, sales collateral, webinars, videos and events. 
  • Responsibility for marketing budget:  Manage monthly forecasting and accruals as well as day-to-day purchase order and invoicing for small and specialty business media and production. This includes gathering estimates and budget updates from various Marketing, IT and external vendor partners. 
  • Own partnerships across various marketing teams and become an advocate for business in the marketing org:  Work closely with Small & Specialty Business teams to gain an understanding of their goals and translate & advocate for strategic and tactical marketing support from Global and US marketing COEs to drive business growth 
  • Demonstrate outstanding customer focus:  Leverage customer insights, understanding of the marketplace, competitive dynamics, and other data to influence business growth strategies and inform marketing decision-making; develop a deep understanding of customer needs to champion, drive, and measure customer interest, engagement, experience and satisfaction 
  • Deliver best-in-class customer engagement & experience:  In partnership with the business, define, communicate, deliver, measure and continuously test/refine our customer engagement & experience throughout the customer journey from lead to new customer to ongoing engagement 
  • Drive acquisition & influence conversion:  Lead efforts to introduce and convert a new stable of customers through innovative integrated marketing approach including thought leadership/content, email, advertising, digital and social media channels and high impact digital media outreach. 
  • Partner deeply across MetLife resources:  Partner with Product and US Marketing to develop creative assets & messaging that support the Small & Specialty Business Group Benefits BU and marketing objectives; also includes working with marketing technology, legal review and compliance and other marketing teams as needed. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:


  • 7+ years of digital marketing expertise including multi-channel integrated B2B and B2B2C efforts 
  • Leadership mindset and business acumen; demonstrated experience influencing decisions to optimize marketing impact 
  • Deep marketing and project management experience, including digital marketing, messaging/content development, white papers, B2B/B2B2C acquisition/lead gen marketing, events, social media and sales enablement support. 
  • Ability to operate effectively in a highly-matrixed organization, creating partnerships and influencing people of different cultures and backgrounds at all levels and functions of the organization 
  • Action-oriented, high performer able to translate marketing strategies into tangible solutions 
  • Innovative thinker with a strong sense of urgency; proven ability to drive transformational change within an organization and to improve marketing’s contribution internally and externally 
  • Resourceful, strong work ethic, intellectual curiosity, excellent written and verbal communications skills - must be able to communicate effectively internally with functionally and geographically diverse teams and externally with clients, brokers, partners and intermediaries 



  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Keen understanding of the group benefits business & product offering as well as small businesses is highly desirable
