Role Value Proposition: 

This position will be a member of the product actuarial team responsible for a multi-team support for all mathematical and other necessary functions to obtain approvals from state insurance departments for LTC rate increase filings and implementing these rate increases. This will involve support in summarizing the historical financial experience and current in-force data for the actuarial memorandums, as well as responding to related state insurance department objections.


This position works closely with the LTC finance team, Operations and Valuation teams to implement approved rate increases and ensure all design changes are proper and executed as needed.


This is a full-time permanent position offering professional autonomy and work life balance.  Individuals can either WORK FROM HOME/REMOTE two to three days a week, or in the office and prefer that environment.  In addition, this permanent position will not be part of MetLife’s Actuarial Development Program.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist to assemble the necessary historical experience (premium and claims on multiple bases) required to develop and submit actuarial memorandums for the LTC rate increase filings.
  • Assist to assemble the necessary data extracts (in-force and claimants) and related data summaries required to develop and submit actuarial memorandums for the LTC rate increase filings.
  • Understand the issues related to implementation of the rate increases, as well as the applicability of increases to specific customers. Assist in the preparation of various communications about those issues.
  • Assist in Responses to all state objections regarding the information described above,
  • Test rate tag information necessary for implementation of rate increases.


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:


  • 3+ years’ experience in the insurance industry.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics,  or related discipline.
  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently with large amounts of data.
  • Detail oriented with excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Demonstrates strong technical expertise.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting concepts.
  • Working knowledge of Excel and Access.
  • Motivated team player who is results oriented.



  • Passed actuarial exams are strongly desired; however this is not a requirement for the position.
  • Working knowledge of SQL.
  • Excellent analytical and mathematical abilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic understanding of financial reporting for insurance companies.
  • Demonstrates strong organizational and time-management skills.
