Role Value Proposition:

This position is responsible for supporting investment analytics (GAAP and Statutory), QFS reporting and projection to actual reporting & analytics. This position works with a team comprised of degreed, highly skilled technical senior associates.


The position requires a broad understanding of GAAP, Statutory and SEC investment reporting requirements, experience in analyzing, understanding and explaining financial performance in the context of SEC Management’s Discussion and Analysis.    Position requires ability to deal with period end closing processes and procedures, complex investment transactions, and to understand the invested assets of the many legal entities comprising the enterprise, and an understanding of the underlying systems and reporting tools supporting Investments Finance.


Key Responsibilities:

The key responsibilities include preparation of periodic analytic reports on Investment results for $100 billion investment portfolio.  These analytic reports support the Company’s ongoing operations, SEC & insurance statutory requirements and registered insurance product filings.  The principal accountabilities of the position are as follows:


  1. Preparation of necessary reports to support the analysis of investment results (NII, NIGL and Unrealized Gain (Loss), investment yield results, related trend analysis for both GAAP and statutory reporting and related ad-hoc reporting
  2. Preparation of reports and analytics required for Quarterly Financial Supplement.
  3. Preparation of reports for investment projections to actual reporting and analysis for both GAAP and statutory reporting
  4. Respond to questions from consumers of investment analytic reports and provide accurate and timely information. Gain an understanding of underlying drivers of investment results and communicate to senior management.
  5. Assist in process documentation and maintaining a sound internal control environment in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) surrounding investment reporting and analytics.
  6. Leverage emerging technologies to automate analysis and reporting functions.
  7. Participate in process change initiatives within the department and across the business to streamline processes, accelerate processes or improve the quality or internal controls of processes.
  8. Interact with various support functions across the business to facilitate the group’s ease of doing business.
  9. Other tasks as needed.


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

  • 3+ years of experience in the Financial Accounting and Reporting roles, with working knowledge of investment accounting, reporting and analysis.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Completion of or progress towards CPA or MBA is preferred
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to provide interpretation and meaning to period to period financial changes and trends
  • Strong problem solving, communication, organizational and information technology skills
  • Proactive work style and ability to work independently on multiple tasks
  • Ability to effectively work with professionals across the organization, with diverse backgrounds and experience
