Role Value Proposition:

The Director of Investments Finance will act in a senior capacity and serve as the primary line of communication between Finance, the Chief Investments Officer and Investment Operations.  This role will coordinate Net Investment Income (NII), Investment Plan and NII Projection development, as well the attribution analysis vs. Actual NII.  Additionally, this individual will have responsibility for delivering realized gain/loss (NIGL and NDGL) reporting and attribution, reporting advice, investments analytics and special projects.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for analyzing and communicating Plan vs. Projection vs. Actual investment results to the Chief Investment Officer and leadership team, internal Finance and the CFO for the following purposes:
    • Quarterly Earnings Calls and Press Releases
    • Board of Director Reporting
    • Investment Committee Reporting
    • Annual Investment Plan
    • Monthly Earnings Projections
    • Monthly Attribution Analysis
  • Coordinate the quarterly Asset Impairment Review (OTTI) process for international invested assets.
  • Partner with the investment front office to provide accounting advice and impact analysis of investment decisions on financial statements.
  • Bridge externally reported figures to internal investment reports/presentations.
  • Support movement to the investment accounting system as well as the data warehouse and ledger. 
  • Manage and/or support other special projects and ad hoc inquiries that support international front office activities. 
  • Lead the effort to set department objectives that align with the needs of key customers (e.g., Chief Investments Officer, CFO, and Chief Accounting Officer), monitor progress against those objectives and manage priorities in response to emerging and competing initiatives.
  • Act as intermediary with Risk Management and Internal Audit on investment finance issues.

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

  • 8+ years of relevant experience in finance, with a strong preference for a background in investments.
  • Well versed in the development of performance reporting & analytics; strong quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple competing objectives in a deadline oriented environment.
  • Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well within a team environment, build partnerships and work collaboratively with finance and investment personnel across the organization
  • Project management experience preferred
  • MBA, CPA or CFA is preferred
