Manager - IT

Position Summary:

MetLife Global Shared Services (GSS) has an in-house software applications development & support team. The team develops and supports GSS users across multiple locations with custom software solutions that span multiple functions including HR, Finance, IT, Facilities, Governance, Quality, Migrations, Operations etc.

GSS IT has developed an ERP like in-house system that has more than 40 modules live and have an active pipeline of 15 more and growing.

The Senior Project Manager is expected to understand the current application landscape both from Technical and Functional aspects and guide the team to develop the new modules and support existing ones. The role requires a person who can quickly understand the complexities of a large complex application, be able to guide the team including project managers, business analysts and developers to deliver multiple projects with success.

Job Responsibilities:

• Functional
  • Functional understanding of a large, complex ERP like multi-function application
  • Understand the intricacies of inter-module data integrations and develop new modules with the concept of single-data-source
  • Work alongside business analysts and stakeholders to define efficient, user friendly solutions leveraging existing data sources and eliminating redundancies
  • Ability to connect with different functions and understand their perspectives in designing solutions
• Technical
  • Act as a SME for technical guidance to the team including dot Net, Angular, DevOps pipelines, Database design.
  • Periodically conduct code & FRD reviews to ensure adherence to Development Processes and Standards
• Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, relationship building skills and ability to achieve results without direct reporting relationships.
• Program Management
  • Manage, track and report progress of multiple development projects as per Agile & DevOps Standards
  • Manage production support and services
  • Coordinate with QA team for bug identification and resolution
  • Manage, mitigate and communicate risks in a timely manner
  • Manage changes as per defined process
  • Manage project dependencies
  • Communication to stakeholders and management
  • Work with stakeholders and steering committee on new project intake and approvals
  • Business Value calculation, tracking and reporting
• People Management
  • Manage teams, align tasks, provide mentorship, and ensure high-quality deliverables.
  • Manage production support and services
  • Coaching, mentoring & giving feedback to resources
  • Hiring staff & team building
  • Managing and resolving conflicts

Education:

• B.E. / B. Tech in Computer Science
• MBA would be an advantage

Experience:

Project Management

• 8-10 years of experience in Technical Project Management handling multiple projects at same time.
• Experience of development of complex ERP type multi-function application
• Experience in managing cross – functional applications.
• Working with Business Analysts to gather information from stakeholders
• Designing solutions that are more efficient from development & testing perspective, adhering to set standards and improve the user experience

People Management

• Managing Scrum teams
• Experience of managing team of at least 10 people

Program Management

• Experience in managing production support and services
• Good stakeholder communication experience

Knowledge and skills (general and technical):

Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of application architecture with technologies like Angular, .NET Web APIs, .Net Core and SQL Server
• Experience of understanding application architecture
• Experience in providing best solution to stakeholders
• Experience in providing tech & design support to tech teams
• Must have experience to work with BA during requirement gathering
• Must have experience in building and managing Dev Ops pipeline
• Must have experience in app server management.
• Willing to learn new technologies

Other Requirements (licenses, certifications, specialized training – if required):

• SAFE Agilist & DevOps certifications would be a plus
